![]() A circle pit usually takes place when the band calls for one, and this involves everyone on the inside running in a circle on the outside edge. The traditional mosh pit may form where people will charge around on the inside and push others around. Once big enough, a few different things may take place. Mosh pits are formed when a group of people push open a circle in the crowd. In most cases, anyone who partakes in this will be carried towards the stage where security guards who stand in a little no mans land between the stage and the crowd will help them down and let them get back to into the audience. Crowd surfing is the act of being lifted into the air and being passed around overhead by the people in the crowd. Yet some people still believe that they should not continue.Ī brief description of moshing, crowd surfing, and stage diving may help give some insight as to why the actions are frowned upon. ![]() With these actions being so common at concerts and with so many people taking part, most people including myself do not wish to see them banned. However, in the past few years, more and more venues as well as entire festivals have been trying to ban crowd surfing and mosh pits. It is usually up to individual cities or venues to determine what is and isn’t allowed to be done. These activities have attracted people who wish to have an adrenaline rush and get the most action out of their concert experience. For decades, rock and metal concerts have been known to allow crowd surfing, mosh pits, and stage diving.
